Opportunities

For years during the month of August under Scripture Union a team of young like-minded Christians have gathered together to form a mission team in Polzeath.

Where is Polzeath? It’s on the north Cornwall coast near Padstow. The village of Polzeath rests right on the coast and is famous for its surfing. During the summer season the place is crowded out with families and in particular teenagers looking to perfect their surfing skills.

The object of the PFM mission work is to share the good news of Jesus Christ with children, young people, surfers and families on the beach. It is challenging work and it is demanding but if in your Christian life you are looking to give people the opportunity to respond to Gods love and to challenge and support people in their Christian growth you will find that taking part in PFM a very rewarding opportunity. Spiritual growth is amazing. You will learn so much in two weeks plus the rewards are fantastic. It is wonderful to share the good news when a young person comes to accept and know Jesus Christ.

The mission is jam packed full of events so to stop everyone falling flat on the ground, food is provided 4 times a day - not including tea/coffee and cakes. Energy levels do take a bashing, but that is when you learn most and the work can be at its most rewarding.

Friendships are key to PFM and close friendships are established between leaders and the children as well as within the team. Many keep in contact for the whole 50 weeks between missions.

The mission programme varies every year in format and depends on the size of the team recruited. So what’s the deal?

  • Accommodation? We have three substantial properties to provide you with a home from home stay for the fortnight.
