FinancesMission costs about £16,000 to run. This sounds like an awful lot of money and it is but what does it go on? This covers: Food – we have some amazing cooks who are able to produce fantastic food on a tight budget, but feeding 30 + team costs about £1400 for the two weeks. Accommodation – Polzeath is a popular holiday destination and accommodation whether that is with a canvas or tiled roof takes a huge percentage of the year’s costs. Team work extremely hard and therefore need to get a good night sleep, not all team get a bed for the night but a roof does make a huge difference. Some of these houses we hire are also used to run age group activities. Equipment – We spent about £350 on a new banner for the roadshow this year as our old one was rather worn out. Another purchase was a gazebo for the coffee house to use. Team t-shirts – it’s wonderful to hear people saying ‘look there’s one of those PFM people’ having the PFM t-shirt enables the PFM presence to be felt around Polzeath and enables people to know who we are. Publicity - we spent over £750 this year buying flyers, posters and other items to advertise the mission and all that was going on. It is so vital to have good publicity not only does it enable people to know what is going on and hopefully attend activities it also means that we have a chance to talk and build relationships with all those who we speak to as we place the flyer in their hand. We are currently looking at buying notice boards and other items for people to know that PFM has arrived in Polzeath. Obviously all of this costs! Bibles / Bible Notes - some of the money we receive each year goes towards buying bibles or Christian books for the child /young people who attend. We are looking at giving away CD’s that will inspire the children and young people but obviously this does not come cheaply. We really want to give each person who attends something that will enable them to continue to spend time with God throughout the remaining 50 weeks of the year. High Profile Events - often bring new people in to mission activities. We booked an amazing night with Steve Price a Gospel Illusionist this year and the bar where it was held was packed with so many people who would not have joined in with the mission otherwise. It was an amazing evening and received so much praise. Licences also take up some of our funds, ensuring we are covered to be able to do everything that we do. There are so many other costs to put the mission on and we rely on the generous gifts of PFM supporters. Each year we have to look at getting the finances in to cover the cost of mission. Although we did have enough money in the bank to pay all the bills for 2008 it was very tight. Please pray that all the money we need will come in. Obviously we must give everything to God and we ask that you join us as we pray that God will clearly guide us with all aspects of the mission. If you or your family have been blessed by the mission, either currently or during past years, and you would like to support us financially, please contact our mission leaders at the address below. If you wish to send a cheque, the PFM Account name is Scripture Union 7019 - Polzeath. Thank you so much for all your support. Another purchase for 2009 we are hoping to be able to fund will be some bibles for each of the age groups so that all the youngsters can have a bible to use rather just print outs of scripture. |
